Basic Information about TJIC
In the summer of 2005, a group of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology students were inspired by an Investor's Business Daily article to form an investment club. Two months and countless hours later, the Thomas Jefferson Investment Club (TJIC) debuted during an an Eighth Period B-Block activity session sponsored by Mr. Zack, a Government and Economics teacher.
TJIC: We're Legit.
TJIC provides an exciting atmosphere for young adults to discuss investment strategies and gain a financial education. The unique appeal of TJIC is the buying of stock with real money. This adds a realistic amount of risk to the investment process; therefore, the experience the members gain is authentic.
Every year we invest approximately $500 according to investment decisions that are voted on as a group. The club uses its own funds to invest. Members do not contribute money and do not recieve any.
We also host guest speakers and officer presentations in order to enhance our knowledge of investing.
Specifics about TJIC meetings
TJIC meets regularly during every Friday B-Block. Meeting are held in Mr. Zack's room, room 215. There are no attendance rules; anyone may attend a meeting at any time during the school year, unless otherwise noted on the intranet.
