Overview

TJIC runs multiple virtual investment games amongst its members at virtualstockexchange.com. The games give members a risk-free environment in which to practice various investment strategies. In addition to two public semester games, TJIC runs several seasonal and monthly games over the course of the year. The information on all ongoing games is available here:

Spring Stock Game!

I created a new Spring stock game at virtualstockexchange.com. This is a private game, so it is open only to members of the club. This is not a theme game, so there are no extra theme rules.

New Semester Stock Game!

I created a new semester stock game at virtualstockexchange.com. This is a public game; it is open to everyone, not just members of the club, though you do need the password to participate. This game lasts for the entire second semester, not a just month, so there are no extra theme rules.

February/March Stock Game!

I recently created a February/March stock game at virtualstockexchange.com. This is a private game; it is open only to club members. In addition, this is a theme game. The theme for this game is diversification because Mr. Ero stressed the pitfalls of high-risk investment during his presentation. You can't put more than 30% of your equity into one order, and you can't use margin. These are pre-set rules in the VSE game.

Winner of the Semester Stock Game!

Congratulations to George Bocchetti, the winner of our semester stock game, and Kevin Tong, the last-place contestant. Remember, it takes skill to be that down.

The current roster on VSE is incorrect. For some reason, the game did not terminate the contestants' holdings after the end date. You can't make new trades, but all of your old holdings will continue to make or lose money. The officers took this into account in determining the real standings.

Since this was such a large game, the top ten conestants as well as the last place contestant shall receive lettering points. If your screen name does not identify you, please see the officers on Friday to collect your lettering points.

I recently created a January stock game at virtualstockexchange.com. This is a private game; it is open only to club members. In addition, this is a theme game. The theme is Basic Materials because the California Gold rush started in January. You can only buy stocks in the Basic Materials sector. The officers will check the transaction histories of the winners at the end of the game, so don't cheat!

I recently created a December stock game at virtualstockexchange.com. This is a private game; it is open only to club members. In addition, this is a theme game. The theme is long term investing. Members can make trades for one week after the creation date, until December 11, 2009. After that, members can only place Sell or Buy To Cover orders; they can liquidate their holdings, but can't make any new acquisitions. The officers will check the transaction histories of the winners at the end of the game, so don't cheat!
