Flyers-we need them for the Car Wash, Interest Meeting, and
Freshmen
Orientation
Applications will be turned into lounges, with another folder for
extra
applications incase they are lost. They are due September
25th, without
the money. Information about the dues will be on the
application,
but they will turn the money in on a later date (Oct 4)
depending on what
they want. We thought $6 would be the base fee, $10 if
they want
a t-shirt/soffe shorts (that way if they only wanted one of the two
they
could); $15 if they want a t-shirt and soffe shorts.
Soffe Shorts: On the waist band say "Keyettes 2002-2003" and on
the back
say either "GIRLS ONLY" or "GIRLS RULE" Officers would like to
have shorts
before the first meeting so the members can see the soffes
before they
purchase them.
Idea of having a Keyette "SIB" program; match up the underclassmen
with
upperclassmen.
Locker posters for members-for birthdays, good attendance, acceptance
into
the club...
Want to try and have at least one out of school activity a month,
attendance
being encouraged.
Possibility of permission forms online if the activities are during
8th
period.
For the Sept 11th Free Car Wash, we need to make posters during
lunch
sometime before the 15th of September; Also need a name and an
organization
to donate the money to.
Car Wash will be at intersection of Old Keen Mill and Rolling Road
(The
one with the cheesy Christmas decorations that are up year round…)
We also
need to advertise for the Car Wash and encourage potential members
to come
and help the cause. *Megan is in charge of calling and
verifying
with the gas station
We discussed the Interest Meeting and decided on making Peanut Butter
and
Jelly sandwiches after a short introduction. We wanted to
briefly
tell them about the club, what we plan to do, and stress
attendance.
Information about applications, dues, shorts and shirts
should also be
talked about.
Possibility of participating in Nite the Lite cancer walk- *Catherine
was
going to get more information, and see if the Keyettes could have a
team and
participate.
There was interest in helping out with the "Care-ival" *Marci will
get
more information once it is set up about the Keyettes helping
CAMP HEMLOCK…*Mandy will call (impressive) and hopefully get that
set
up. Need money for the group to go and also need to know the
time
we will be spending there
For the activities fair…we'd like a booth next to the Key Club's with
food
and maybe music; need sheets to have people show interest, and also
need the
actual date of the fair.
For a rainy day activity: Make cards for a purpose while watching a
movie.
Keyettes T-shirts… Would like a "super-Keyette" (similar to
superman
but cooler) design. *Tina will talk with Courtney about
getting the
design soon
Painting the ceiling Tiles---*Tina volunteered to write the proposal
for
that, as well as painting the railings around the school.
We would like to set up the tour with the Groveton Elementary
second
graders. Need date for that.
Bake Sale Fundraiser: Make the baked goods in the cafeteria
during
8th period and sell before the football game. Also have
pizza;
[I'm pretty sure you can get Papa Johns to sell you the
pizzas for $5 each
if they know you're doing a fundraiser---I can look into
that more and
see if we can get cheaper pizza so we can make a profit and
also feed those
hungry freshmen] Also need forks, napkins, and all
the ingredients
to make items for the bake sale. *Kathryn will find recipes
and help oversee
the baking. We also need to figure out when we
need to go to the
grocery store and buy what we need. Need to make
sure and give the
Finance Office enough time so we can get the
money. If this is successful
we can hopefully do it again during
football season, or basketball of lacrosse
season.

Keyette of the
Month: Keyette member selected each month for having
good
attendance. Other members who have good attendance will get
a
little note and treat on their locker congratulating them on their
perfect
attendance for the month. Their picture goes on the web
page, and
the Keyette of the Month gets a special locker posters.
*Catherine
and Kathryn were in charge of "treats" *Marci will keep track of
attendance

Bulletin Board-we'd like it to be bigger, and also have
calendars with
the schedule of activities for that month that members can
take home with
them. Also will have a picture of the Keyettes of
the Month.

Decided on no newsletter and no committees or chairs,
officers can take
on the responsibilities that the chairs would assume, since
we already
have 9 officers.

Idea to make baskets with cards for
new faculty members, filled with
office supplies and candy. *Tina
and Marci will be in charge

In November we'd like to make turkeys as
an 8th period activity and
bring them to a nursing home after school to
decorate with.

Inductions: we need candles, home-baked
cakes, flowers and something
to put the candles in so the wax won't drip
everywhere.

We thought about going to a food warehouse and help sort
the food there.
*Marci and Kathryn knew of places and were going to
get more information
[There's a food warehouse in Lorton-I'll get more
info]

We'd like to make the chocolate snowmen for teachers in
December.

A fun activity would be to play board games with children
at a Children's
Hospital
Also---we'd like to make sure to make Mother's
Day Gifts: this year
instead of flower pots, paint watering cans; Visit
Joseph's Coat; and a
Water park as a fun activity (Wahoo); Also: Food sorting
and reading books
to children in children's hospitals.
