This Friday- Briefing for telethon

Tuesday 13th November 2007 23:20

Cayla and I won't be here cause we have to go to a national merit scholar reception.

Here's what the rest of you can do...

1) compile a list of potential sponsors. a very, very, very long list. assume most people will decline the offer. think businesses, family, family friends, parents' coworkers, restaurants, spam-like email lists, yellow pages, etc.
2) think of how to contact these people. say, phone, email, mail, walk-in, etc. don't take walk-in as a bad idea... example, mall. store-to-store. but dont take fair oaks mall; i call dibs on that. most of the time, by phone, you want to speak to the manager.. just a by the way.
3) what to say to these people. hi my name is bla. i am bla. fast a thon bla. measles initiative bla. sponsor? thanks! bla. and a lot more bla. or a lot less bla. depends on #2, how you're contacting. what you say in an email shouldnt be the same length as what you say on the phone.
mine went something like this. intro, how fat works, money raised for measles initiative, your contributions would be wonnnderful, we'll take anything, stats from the past 2 years, thanks! thanks in advance! i really appreciate this! really! here's like, 50 ways to contact me (email, cell phone, home address..)
4) important things they should know-- measles initiative, yes? TAX DEDUCTIBLE contributions. t-shit = publicity! every $ (or penny.) counts
5) someone do me a favor and be the secretary for the day.. maybe take everyone's mini-list at the end, or make a master list, or whatever works. also, keep track of who was at the meeting. and showing up at 2.55 *cough cough* does not count as being at the meeting.

i have faith in you! you can do it!
