**Hours Opportunity** Thanksgiving Food Drive
by Colleen Knight - Friday, November 13, 2009, 02:53 PM

NHS is holding a Thanksgiving Food Drive!

Bring in canned food and drop it off in Room 145 (Mr. Cullen's room) between now and Friday, November 20th.

Label them with your name and grade.

Bringing in 4 cans will count for 1 hour of service - and this can count for your one NHS-sponsored activity required for this year! You can receive a maximum of 2 hours (8 cans) but there is no maximum on the number of items you can bring, so if you're feeling in a giving mood, go right ahead!

The food will be donated to the Arlington Food Assistance Center.

The following items are needed:

Canned Goods (low salt preferred)
Meat and Fish
> tuna
> salmon
> spam
> ham

Soup and Stew
> all varieties

> stew
> chili

Beans- all varieties
Pasta
> ravioli
> spaghetti

Cereal (low sugar preferred)
Hot and Cold- all varieties

Pasta (dry packaged)- all varieties

Peanut Butter

In addition, the AFAC is in need of plastic grocery bags, so please leave those in Mr. Cullen's room along with the food that you bring.

**Volunteer Opportunity** Intermediate Math Olympiad
by Ellie Roeva - Friday, November 6, 2009, 02:56 PM

November 14
8am-5pm (shifts available)

There are two main jobs:

1) Coach - A coach is assigned around 6-7 middle school students who
they will stay with the entire day. In the morning, they will teach
the students some math theory ( we will teach all coaches all that
they need to know). In the afternoon, they will administer the tests
to the students. If required, we can assign a partner to each coach.

2) Runner - A runner will go to each of the rooms before each round
and give the coach the problems for that round. He/she will also
collect the answers from the previous round and bring them back to the
cafeteria.

There will be a mandatory coaches meeting during lunch on either Nov.10 or Nov.11.
