MEMO ON 2009-2010 ELECTIONS
Due to our April 24th guest speaker from the Polaris Project and the following week of AP examinations, this year UNICEF’s elections will be conducted through the club website: http://activities.tjhsst.edu/unicef/.
If you are interested in running for office you have until Friday April 24th to email current President, Neesha Schnepf (Neesha.regmi.schnepf@gmail.com) , your election speech detailing your qualifications and goals for the club. So this means no in person speech, just online. If giving a speech in front of people was a deterrence for you, then you still should NOT run for office. Being a UNICEF officer requires the abilities to speak in front of over a hundred people.
Only one person can win each position, no one can run with another person for an office. This is to increase competition in the election, ensuring that the most qualified, competent, and responsible person wins.
All officers should be prepared to attend weekly lunch meetings to plan meetings. Officer duties are listed below—failure to accomplish these duties can lead to officer demotion.
President:
• Work with school administrators and other clubs to enable UNICEF to properly fulfill its goals
• Help plan meetings
• Help run meetings
• Be chief club spokesperson
Vice President:
• Help run meetings
• Help plan meetings
• Executes the president’s plan if president is unable to do so
Treasurer:
• Work with the finance office
• Collect and count club money
• Deal with all financial needs in a timely manner
Secretary:
• Maintain the bulletin board
• Keep track of club members
• Take notes on important formalities
• Help create Facebook events for UNICEF events
Webmaster:
• Maintain club website http://activities.tjhsst.edu/unicef/
• Email intranet administrators to have UNICEF announcements posted
• Create Facebook events for UNICEF events
Video Advertiser:
• Update scrolling announcements with UNICEF events (http://portal.tjhsst.edu/)
• Create 30 second morning announcement ads for UNICEF events
To vote, club members must make an account with the club website (http://activities.tjhsst.edu/unicef/). Remember that to be a club member there are some requirements to be met:
• Attend three meetings
• Help bring supplies for 80% of UNICEF’s events or help set them up in another way
o Example: If there are five movie fundraisers, you helped bring food/drinks to four
o Example: on JDay you helped set the booth up and managed it for a shift )
o NOTE: JDay is an event, if you help out in all the movie events, you automatically do not need to help in JDay (although it is encouraged to do so anyway).
So most of you will be able to vote. You have from April 26th – May 2nd to vote online.
