Background Guide

Mohan Parthasarathy

Director

Hi guys! My name is Mohan Parthasarathy, and I’ll be serving as your crisis director for this committee. I’m a sophomore, and this is my third year in MUN. Throughout that time, I’ve come to love Model UN and especially crisis, so I’m ecstatic to bring that experience and joy to all of you. It’s been the source of my best memories, from having fun in hotels at travel conferences to causing a cult invasion in my first crisis committee. Outside of MUN, you will find me walking my dog Thunder, playing brawl stars, or suffering through my math homework.

I remember my first time as a crisis delegate. Scouring through chair bios, prepping for committee, writing my arc, and not knowing what to expect. But trust me, MUN is one of those experiences where you grow more than you think, and I’m here to make sure this committee is a blast for all of you. Whether it’s your first ever conference or you’re a veteran at crisis, we’re going to keep everything fun and engaging for the whole committee. It will be fast-paced (no pun intended) and full of twists, and I want to create an environment where you can think creatively, collaborate, and have fun while doing it. Keep in mind that this is a fun, fantasy superhero committee - so be creative in your arcs! Feel free to take inspiration from the comics or the show, but we want to see you use your imagination effectively.

I can’t wait to meet all of you! If you want to find out more about MUN, TJ, or our experiences in general, please reach out at flashfoestechmun2025@gmail.com. Looking forward to an electrifying committee!

Zoeb Izzi

Chair

Hey everyone! My name is Zoeb Izzi and I’ll be your chair for this committee. I’m a sophomore at TJ and this is my 4th year doing MUN. Throughout middle school and high school, MUN has been one of my favorite activities ever. From wandering the streets of Philadelphia at 1 in the morning looking for Sour Patch to acting out action scenes during a mod to running 3-way mergers in committee, I’ve loved every minute of MUN that I’ve been through. Outside of MUN, you’ll probably find me coding, building robots, running, cooking/baking, or trying not to fail physics.

This is a crisis committee, so we encourage you to have some fun with it! Come up with crazy, wild things to do in the backroom - since this is a fantasy crisis, the more far-fetched the better. Crisis may not always go your way, which is why it’s important for delegates to be able to adjust their goals to match committee flow. Be emphatic in your speeches, and draw the attention of your delegates (and your often-sleeping cochair). Be a leader, but delegate the work, and be diplomatic.

Whether it’s your first committee or your last, we encourage you to stand out, go above and beyond, and push yourselves! Though this committee doesn’t require position papers, we encourage you all to look at the dossiers and background guides. Think about what you might want to do in committee, or who you’d want to do that with - we encourage you to work with other delegates, including those not from your school, to achieve your goals! If you have any questions about anything at all, don’t hesitate to email flashfoestechmun2025@gmail.com.
