Surbhi Singla

Hi everyone! My name’s Surbhi, and I’ll be your director for The Prophecy: Percy Jackson & The Olympians. Two years ago, I walked into my committee at TechMUN, shaking with nerves, and with a sticky note on the palm of my hand (Dina can attest to this). Today, I still walk into committee with a racing pulse, but somewhere along the way, I’ve gained the confidence to speak without a script, and lead blocs without fear (usually).

But MUN is more than speeches and resolution papers - my favorite memories from conferences include CVS runs for snacks, using half-processed chemistry lessons to blow up Disney World, and drinking a liter of Fanta at midnight (my roommates suffered). Hopefully, this TechMUN, you all get to make some memories for yourselves. Just don’t ask me to sing (or dance). And when MUN isn’t taking over my life, you’ll find me catching-up on sleep, doing physics, calling my friends to procrastinate homework, or replaying bollywood songs.

In committee, I’d like to see arcs that go outside the box, one’s that are as fun as they are well thought-out. Show us what chaos you can cause - and get away with! In a world of mythical powers, I hope that you get to experience a taste of the magic yourself. Give that impromptu mod, summon the gods in your directives, and make your way to the top of Olympus (or burn it down). It’s worth it. Until then, feel free to reach out at percyjacksontechmun2024@gmail.com.

Dina Kurdi

Hey everyone! I’m Dina, a sophomore at TJ and I’m super excited to be your chair for this committee. This is my second TechMUN and my fourth year doing MUN overall. Honestly, the reason I joined MUN back in seventh grade was purely to experience the fun of overnight field trips, but now I can proudly say that being a part of MUN has given me so many opportunities and experiences. From scrambling around on the streets of Philadelphia to starting prep the night before a conference, MUN has genuinely played one of the most important roles in shaping who I am and my skills as a person.

Outside of MUN, you can find me participating in a wide array of hobbies - from being a part of the track team here at TJ, playing the piano, avidly watching soccer, reading a good book, or doing bio related activities, I like to do way too many more things than I can count. During committee, I will be looking for well-rounded delegates - those who can employ the qualities of a leader while still being able to stay diplomatic. As this is a crisis committee, I’m looking forward to a lot of innovation and creativity - have fun with your ideas, step out of your comfort zone, and participate as much as often! Not only do I want to see creative minds, but I would also like to see intense debate and healthy collaboration as well. I know you are all middle schoolers and you might be nervous (especially if this is one of your first times doing MUN), but I encourage each and every one of you to work with each other (go write a JPD with someone you've never talked to before committee!), try your best, and have fun - that's what crisis is all about! See you soon!

Abhiram Chavali

Hey guys! I’m Abhiram, a sophomore at TJ and I’m really excited to be your other chair for this committee. I started doing MUN last year in 9th grade, but even in that short amount of time, it has become one of my favorite clubs and a big part of my life. MUN has impacted me in many ways, from helping me get better at public speaking to being home to some of my closest friends, so I hope TechMUN and your future MUN experiences will impact you in the same way. Outside of MUN, I enjoy playing video games, reading books (especially Percy Jackson), and spending time with my friends and family, at least when I’m not studying for my next test.

In this committee, I will be looking for delegates who aren’t afraid to go out of the box with their speeches and those who are able to introduce their own creativity into their speeches without lacking diplomacy. I am also looking for delegates who are able to show how well they work with others while still remaining in a position of leadership. Remember, this is a crisis committee, so don’t be afraid to have a little more fun with your experiences here. I’m looking forward to meeting all of you and your fun and creative speeches! If you have any questions or concerns about this committee, please feel free to reach out to us at percyjacksontechmun2024@gmail.com.
